Mount Batukaru is the second highest volcano in Bali, rising to 2,276 meters above sea level. Surrounded by dense rainforest, it offers one of the most authentic and challenging trekking experiences on the island.

The trek begins around 2:00 AM from Malem Temple, located at the base of the mountain. The trail climbs steadily through thick jungle and quiet forest paths used mainly by local pilgrims.

After approximately four hours of ascent, you will reach the summit just before sunrise. If the weather allows, the sunrise reveals breathtaking views over Bali’s central mountains and valleys.

While enjoying the scenery, your guide will prepare a simple breakfast with coffee or tea at the summit.

The descent takes around three hours, following a different route that leads to Pura Batur Sari, another sacred temple in the Batukaru area.
